They feed mostly on insects, nectar and other parts found within flowers. Bats can travel great distances and they will tend to carry pollen from flower to flower as they feed.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p>Over 500 different types of fruit and tropical plants are pollinated by bats.  <em>The Kigelia Africana<\/em> or African Sausage tree (also known as Muratina in Kikuyu) for example is pollinated by Bats. And yes, the baked fruit or roasted seeds from the tree are used to flavor the beer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mangoes, peaches, bananas and cocoa are other examples of fruit and tropical plants pollinated by bats. Tequila, another popular alcoholic drink is made from the Agave plant that is pollinated by bats. Clearly, it would appear drinks consumed mostly at night, are pollinated by the nocturnal pollinators. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading\" id=\"uagb-adv-heading-e79005a6-16c1-4925-b59e-fa8e4b025da5\"><h2 class=\"uagb-heading-text\"><\/h2><p class=\"uagb-desc-text\"> <br><strong>Bats also play an important role in keeping<\/strong> <strong>harmful insects away from crops<\/strong>. <strong>Fruit-eating bats disperse seeds that are critical in the restoration of forests. Bat droppings (referred to as Guano) are important natural fertilizers<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<section class=\"wp-block-uagb-section uagb-section__wrap uagb-section__background-undefined\" id=\"uagb-section-cff6a654-8e2c-4821-a760-df7afd27128d\"><div class=\"uagb-section__overlay\"><\/div><div class=\"uagb-section__inner-wrap\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Bats face several threats to their existence.
